The Redwood welcomes Edward Achorn as he presents his book, Every Drop of Blood: The Momentous Second Inauguration of Abraham Lincoln, a brilliantly conceived and vividly drawn story of Washington, D.C. on the eve of Abraham Lincoln’s historic second inaugural address and all the complexities of the Civil War. A Pulitzer Prize finalist for Commentary and winner of the Yankee Quill Award, Achorn is the vice president and editorial editor of The Providence Journal.
He is the author of two critically acclaimed books on baseball history — The Summer of Beer and Whiskey and Fifty-Nine in ’84. Achorn is a Pulitzer Prize finalist and recipient of the Yankee Quill Award for lifetime achievement in journalism.
