First Mystery:  Books Missing from the Original Collection

When Newport was occupied during the Revolutionary War, part of our original collection was lost. Thanks to extensive efforts on behalf of the Library and its friends, over 90% of the volumes have been returned or replaced. Category: circa 1859-1885, resembles Eli Whitney portrait by Samuel F. B. Morse, part of the Yale University Art Gallery collection, and reproduced in Yankee Magazine, Nov. 1972, p. 169.
