Restoration Project:

Harrison Block

Built in 1747, the Harrison Room is the original historic structure.
The restoration project will allow for the building's integrity to be fully restored.

The classically inspired Harrison Room is essentially the original interior space of the Redwood Library. In this room are housed the Original 1747 Collection of books, arranged much as they were 250 years ago.

This precious space is often required as the location of meetings which take place at the Library, during which time it is closed off to public use. Expansion plans will open up the Harrison Room to consistent public access again.

Exterior repairs will focus on restoring the damaged and deteriorating portions of the historic building complex. Time, gravity and insects have seriously compromised the foundation and roof trusses of the Harrison structure. With the renewal project, the structural integrity of the 1747 building will be fully restored.
