Summer Fun at the Redwood

Our Summer Programs offered a fun variety of activities for all ages. They were created around the theme of "One World, Many Stories," exploring countries and cultures around the world.

Dave Marchetti presented "Animal Experiences" with live animals.

Perennial crowd favorite Christopher Kavi Carbone took the children on a trip to Italy with his music.

Greg Cooney presented “One World, Many Stories, Smiles and Songs.” Greg performed on many hand-made wooden musical instruments he has collected from around the world and then let the children have hands-on time with each instrument.

Everyone wore their best party clothes for an afternoon of fancy finger food, croquet, music, dance, magic and face painting at our annual children's garden party.

Please note:  In the event of inclement weather, the Redwood Children's Library will

follow the lead of the Newport schools and close if the schools have canceled classes.

The Children’s Collection

is housed in the

Carol and Les Ballard Annex

at 10 Redwood Street,

across from the main building.

This wonderful Victorian house allows plenty of space for children to relax, look at books, attend story hours, play with our train set and puzzles, and even sing and dance --there is never any  “shush"-ing here.

Hours:

Monday & Tuesday 9:30-12:30

Wednesday 2:00-5:00

Friday 9:30-12:00

Other hours by request

Storytime:  Tuesdays 10:30 a.m.

With a wide array of board books, picture books, and easy readers, we satisfy many different reading levels and tastes.

Our non-fiction collection for children is also housed in this building, and the resource/professional collection is available for questions and literature help. We also have videos, DVDs, and audio-books to check out.

Books for older readers are in the "big library" across the street in the Gewirz room.

Parents and grandparents looking for well-remembered stories from their youth often come in to comb the upper shelves of "classic” volumes.   Come in and visit with an old friend -- grown-ups are always welcome.

"Magee", our library bear, greets visitors to his library "home."

Stop by and give him a pat -- he's quite tame!
