CONDITION
  1. Mounted all corners verso. Paper and adhesive residues corners and center side edges are evidence of previous mounting. 
  2. Very discolored overall. Severe brown liquid staining of unknown origin verso has migrated to recto. Especially disfiguring as spots across subject's forehead, arms, chest and shoulders. 
  3. Very dirty verso. 
  4. Diagonal creases bisect support through center of sheet. 
TREATMENT
  1. Dry-cleaned verso with Magic Rub vinyl eraser. 
  2. Float-washed 4 times in slightly alkaline deionized water (pH 8.0, calcium hydroxide added) to reduce discoloration as far as possible. 3% reagent-grade hydrogen peroxide applied by brush to liquid stains recto and verso to reduce, then exposed to filtered sunlight whilst wet. Peroxide rinsed from paper by bathing 3 times as above until negative oxidation indicated by potassium iodide-starch test paper. 
  3. After air-drying humidified, then straightened under light pressure between sheets of smooth matboard and foam.
